Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting and taxation functions while ensuring compliance with Australian financial regulations. You will prepare financial reports, tax returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS), and perform reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
- University degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Open to all candidates regardless of CPA qualification, provided they demonstrate a strong desire to grow and remain in the accounting industry.
- Proficient in Xero (preferred), QuickBooks, or MYOB.
- Skilled in bank reconciliations, financial reporting, BAS preparation, entity tax returns, and general compliance. Excellent attention to detail, communication, and the ability to work independently.
- Prior experience working with Australian clients is a strong plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for various entities, including individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare and file Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other relevant tax documents, ensuring strict compliance with Australian tax regulations.
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Handle specific Australian compliance tasks, such as iCare Workers Compensation scheme ‘actuals’ reporting and Super Guarantee Charge (SGC) statements for late super payments.
- Collect historical and lodged financial and tax information for third parties as requested.
- Stay updated on bookkeeping standards and legal regulations while collaborating effectively with the Australian team through regular updates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Occasional & Evolving Responsibilities: (Tasks handled on an as-needed basis or expected to grow over time)
• Assist with AP/AR tasks, including invoicing, collections, and payments when necessary.
• Support payroll processing and compliance (role may evolve over time).
• Assist with budgets, financial forecasts, and documentation for internal or external audits as required.
