Kody embarked on his entrepreneurial journey with Design Fox, beginning with a modest investment of $250 in business cards and an iMac in his spare room. Recognizing the potential of hiring virtual assistants online, he expanded his team to handle billing and project management, gradually shifting towards creative contractors found on platforms like UpWork and Freelancer.com. In just two years, he witnessed exponential growth, transforming annual earnings from under $30,000 to a remarkable $500,000.

Transitioning to Lightning Sites, Kody understood that to scale effectively, he needed to streamline services and offer website subscriptions. Freelancers initially supported this venture, but the desire for a permanent and sustainable team led him to explore alternative options. Traditional agencies proved expensive and lacked the desired office culture, inspiring him to establish a presence in the Philippines. This decision marked the inception of Lightning Sites’ overseas facility.

After 3 years of successfully growing Lightning Sites, Dale Beaumont joined the team and the team started to really explode in growth. Lightning Sites went on to build over 1,300 websites in the next 7 years looking after over 800 clients’ websites every month. Lightning Sites was scaled to over $3M in revenue and $900,000 profit a year. Through this success, many clients began to ask for help expanding their own teams. They had recently outgrown our previous office space and fitted out our own facility for 120 staff. So with 40 or so spare desks, we started to help our friends hire staff.

With 40 extra desks and a vision to help friends hire staff, the WrkPod model was born. It filled a crucial gap, offering affordability, direct staff payments, and true team ownership for business owners. WrkPod HQ was established to accommodate 350 staff, quickly reaching capacity within a year.

Today, WrkPod continues its remarkable journey, expanding with WrkPod Campus and WrkPod Downtown. Over the past year, 350 staff were placed, and WrkPod now supports over 500 Virtual Staff. Our ambitious goal is to create 10,000 jobs within the next five years.
