Job Description

As a Video Editor, you are responsible for efficiently producing high-performing video ads that maximize engagement of our client-partners’ highest value customers using direct response advertising psychology. Working in collaboration with the internal Creative Team and the Creative Strategist, you optimize and iterate on winning video creatives based on performance data and constantly create new and engaging ad ideas to drive measurable improvements in advertising performance.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in video editing, ideally in the direct response advertising space, with a focus on digital and social media ad creatives.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and advanced motion graphics design.
  • Experience in AI image and video generation tool prompts.
  • Strong background in storytelling, creative ad production, and audience engagement techniques.
  • Ability to edit at scale, producing multiple variations of creative assets quickly and efficiently.
  • Deep understanding of platform-specific best practices for Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging ad networks.
  • Optional Qualifications and Experience:
    • Hands-on experience with creative testing, data-driven optimizations, and iterative video production workflows.
    • Mastery of graphic design layout and pattern interrupt visuals for highly engaging hooks and thumbnail production.
    • Experience collaborating with performance marketing teams to analyze and iterate on video ad creatives.
Job Responsibilities
  • Produce highly effective and engaging video content:
    ● Review and assess creative briefs carefully to ensure a full understanding of the requirements, objectives, required dimensions, timeline and expected deliverables.
    ● Review, research and understand the target highest value customer avatar and their pain points to determine the best visual presentation to trigger client engagement.
    ● Edit raw video footage into polished, engaging (scroll-stopper) content that aligns with campaign objectives for various platforms, including Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and other digital ad networks. This includes cutting and trimming of video, audio and video enhancement, transition and color correction.
    ● Ensure all video content is aligned with direct response marketing best practices and the ‘Ads That Don’t Suck’ principles to drive high value conversions (such as Applications, Booked Calls and Purchases etc.)
    ● Apply unique storytelling techniques with the intention of retaining audience interest by engaging viewers and drawing emotional resonance. This includes pattern interrupt, motion graphics, typography, music, SFX and color grading to enhance visual appeal and effectiveness.
    ● Ensure that the creative deliverables meet the requirements outlined in the creative brief, focus predominantly on conversion (what gets people to take action rather than what ‘looks good’) while adhering to the client-partner’s brand guidelines and specific preferences.
    ● Utilize the Internal Creative QA checklist to review creative outputs and ensure deliverables are error-free.
    ● Master industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and AI tools to produce engaging video content.
    ● Organize and manage video assets and version controls in Frame.io in accordance to Grip’s delivery policy and ensure project files and final files are stored and named in accordance to Grip’s standards for efficiency iteration and scalability.
    ● Collectively perform internal creative reviews for other Team Players’ deliverables to ensure all assets adhere to the quality standards and are error-free. This includes completing the creative QA checklist for each creative asset.
    ● Optimize video content based on key ad performance metrics, including likes, shares, engagement rate and CTR, while focusing predominently on what gets people to take high value actions (such as Applications, Booked Calls, Purchases etc.)
    ● Champion Grip’s framework of continuous improvement by ensuring each task contains at least 1 A/B variable for split testing.
    ● Produce highly engaging thumbnails for each video ad creative produced to maximise scroll-stop.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on creative ideas to continuously improve and optimize ad performance:
    ● Collaborate with internal teams during the weekly Internal Strategy Meetings and Internal Creative Meetings by contributing to creative ideas, suggesting creative
    improvement and providing insights on trends to enhance storytelling and overall ad performance
    ● Explore conceptual experimentation that exceeds the brief requirement and aligns with the latest trends in organic social media content and direct response marketing
    ● Digest, understand and be receptive to Team Players/client feedback. Take action in making adjustments to satisfy client’s needs and optimize performance
    ● Build and add to Grip’s asset library by sharing components of top-performing assets in Frame.io that can be reused in the future to improve efficiency and effectiveness (e.g. Grip-produced editor testimonials, client-proof, B-roll, CTA cards)
    ● Utilize feedback on audience behavior provided by the media buyers and creative strategist to brainstorm and develop fresh, high-performing variations to reduce creative fatigue
    ● Be the champion for operational process improvement by identify gaps, collaborating with the Operations team to determine a solution and support with change management.
  • Maintain a highly-organized and productive work environment:
    ● All tasks created must have an assignee, start date/time and due date/time, time estimate, priority level and 100% are not in an overdue status.
    ● All Slack messages are actioned within 4 hours during regular working hours and 24 hours for emergencies in the weekend.
    ● Adhere to Grip’s standard of communication policies including providing daily commitment, project updates and daily accomplishment.
    ● Maintain Inbox Zero – ensuring all Slack messages, ClickUp notifications and emails are read and actioned on regularly. This ensures all matters requiring attention have been attended to, eliminating the risk of build-up or missing important messages.
    ● Every working hour and minute must be tracked (Time Doctor) and tied to a task to maximize productivity, create an effective and productive daily and weekly routine, and improve operational efficiency. This means tracking 8 hours per day, equating to an average of 40 hours per week.
    ● Execute 100% clarity on communication within ClickUp, Slack and all communication channels to ensure full transparency and eliminate the risk of misunderstanding.
  • Maintain a high level of punctuality and attendance:
    ● Team Player is expected to attend and actively participate in the internal meetings.
    ● Exercise punctuality by joining meetings 1 minute prior to the start of the meeting.
    ● Proactively communicate to direct leader with advanced notice if unable to attend.
