Full-Stack Developer

Pivot Freight is a high-growth logistics business driven by a bespoke internal platform. We are seeking a Lead Full-Stack Developer to take complete technical ownership of our digital ecosystem. In this role, you aren’t just a coder; you are the primary technical authority. You will work directly with the Directors to manage everything from feature development and third-party API integrations to AWS infrastructure and AI-driven automation. This is a high-autonomy role designed for a self-directed “generalist” who enjoys the responsibility of being the go-to person for an end-to-end platform.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Technical Depth: 5+ years of experience with PHP and the Laravel framework (specifically Laravel 9/PHP 8.2).
  • Full-Stack Competency: Proficiency in Vue.js, JavaScript, and Blade templating.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Hands-on experience managing Linux servers (Ubuntu/Amazon Linux), Docker containers, and AWS environments (EC2, S3).
  • Database Skills: Strong SQL skills and experience with MariaDB optimization.
  • Integration Expertise: Proven track record of integrating third-party APIs (e.g., Xero, ShipsGo, Sparkpost).
  • Autonomy & Resilience: Ability to work independently without a dedicated engineering team; comfortable managing production support and system stability.
  • Problem Solving: Experience with automation tools (N8N, Power Automate) and a keen interest in LLM/Prompt Engineering is highly regarded.
Job Responsibilities
  • Platform Development: Design, build, and maintain robust back-end logic, APIs, and scheduled tasks within the Laravel framework.
  • Infrastructure Management: Own the deployment pipeline and server health via Docker and AWS; manage SSL certificates, DNS (GoDaddy), and environment security.
  • System Integration: Develop and maintain critical integrations with freight tracking, accounting (Xero), and communication platforms.
  • Workflow Automation: Build and monitor automated business processes using N8N and Microsoft Power Automate to increase operational efficiency.
  • Production Support: Act as the primary point of contact for technical troubleshooting, incident response, and bug fixes to ensure platform uptime.
  • Technical Strategy: Document system architecture and collaborate with management to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps.
  • AI Implementation: Explore and integrate LLM-based workflows to enhance internal productivity and data processing.
