Estimator & Draftsman

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator & Draftsman to support pre-construction and project planning activities. This role combines technical drafting, cost estimation, and coordination responsibilities to ensure projects are accurately planned, compliant, and delivered within budget. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and experienced in construction documentation and estimation processes.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in Residential Estimating and Drafting.
  • Industry Preference: Prior experience with Australian Residential projects (NCC standards) is highly preferred, but open to candidates with US/UK/Middle East residential backgrounds.
  • Technical Skills: * Essential: Proficient in SketchUp (3D modeling/elevations) and Bluebeam Revu (markups/take-offs).
  • Management Software: Knowledge of Wunderbuild is a bonus. Candidates with experience in Buildxact, Procore, PlanSwift, or Cubit are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Core Tasks: Preparing cost estimates, tender proposals, and updating residential drawings/plans for council approvals (DA/CDC).
  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, ability to document SOPs, and strong English communication for collaboration with builders and architects.
Job Responsibilities
  • Produce and update residential drawings using Sketch Up and BlueBeam.
  • Ensure all plans comply with NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Mark Up plans throughout the estimation process for on site construction use.
  • Produce basic Sketch Up drawings for items like internal room elevations, construction details etc.
  • Obtain & prepare documentation for council approvals (DA, CDC, building permits).
  • Review project plans and specifications to determine scope and requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates covering materials, labour, and equipment.
  • Develop and submit tender proposals for new projects.
  • Monitor project budgets and update cost forecasts as needed.
  • Collaborate with the builder, designer/architect, engineers, suppliers, trades and project managers.
  • Incorporate feedback into drawings and cost plans efficiently.
  • Maintain organised records of drawings, revisions, estimates, and documentation.
  • Monitor Pre Construction progress to ensure all documentation and selections are received on time.
