Estimator & AutoCAD Drafter

Job Description

DIS Fire Systems is seeking a versatile, single point of support to assist our Principal Fire Engineer and the wider team. This is a unique hybrid role that combines technical estimating with basic AutoCAD drafting. The ideal candidate is a proactive learner with a strong engineering foundation who is comfortable working across international standards and collaborating with our existing team led by Antonio Pinero.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Technical Drafting: Proficient in AutoCAD (Electrical or Fire background preferred) to create and modify fire system layouts and schematics.
  • Estimation Skills: Experience reviewing project specifications and technical drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials and labor.
  • Engineering Foundation: Strong analytical mindset; must have the capacity to learn Hydraulic Calculations (Training to be provided by the client).
  • System Knowledge: Familiarity with fire protection systems (Gas Suppression, Kitchen Systems, BESS) or similar engineering fields.
  • Adaptability: Ability to handle both analytical estimating and technical CAD design tasks interchangeably.
  • Communication: Excellent English skills (written and verbal) for coordination with international teams and suppliers.
  • Work Experience: Experience working with international standards or multi-national clients is a significant plus.
Job Responsibilities
  • Estimating: Review project specifications and technical drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment for various fire protection projects.
  • AutoCAD Drafting: Perform basic AutoCAD drafting to create and modify fire system layouts, schematics, and electrical backgrounds.
  • Specialized Calculations: Undergo training (provided by DIS Fire) to perform Hydraulic Calculations for fire suppression systems.
  • Technical Support: Provide general support functions for fire systems, including document control and maintaining structured QA records.
  • Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and ensure project-specific alignment.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all drawings and estimates meet client specifications and safety regulations (Australian, UAE, or International standards).
