Job Description
The Draftsman is responsible for producing accurate, practical, and workshopready documentation for Regala’s manufactured products, including cantilever, slide and swing gates, as well as custom fencing solutions.
This role requires an experienced Onshape user with a strong manufacturing mindset, capable of working with minimal supervision while providing informed design input to improve product outcomes and internal processes. The role suits someone with a strong engineering background who understands how design decisions translate into manufactured steel products.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
- Experience: Candidates must have 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a Draftsman.
- CAD Priority (Onshape focus): Onshape is the primary tool and is the top priority for this role. However, open to candidates with strong AutoCAD experience who can transition their skills.
- Portfolio Requirement: Candidates must provide a portfolio of previous work, specifically including shop drawings, DXFs, STEP files, and BOMs for technical review.
- Manufacturing Mindset: Must have a proven background in manufactured steel products—specifically gates and custom fencing. They must be able to resolve fabrication issues at the drafting stage to ensure “workshop-ready” documentation.
- Compliance Flexibility: While the role supports Australian Standards (AS), also open to candidates with experience in international compliances or other regional standards.
- Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves):
• Education: Hold formal qualifications in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Drafting.
• Graphic Design: Experience with Photoshop or graphic design to assist with product visuals is preferred but not essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Drafting & Documentation:
• Produce detailed shop drawings suitable for fabrication and assembly.
• Generate DXF, STEP files, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure all drawings comply with Australian Standards (AS) and internal requirements.
• Maintain accurate revision control and document management.
• Perform drawing checks prior to release. - Design Input & Problem Solving:
• Work primarily from direction while contributing practical design input where required.
• Identify and resolve potential fabrication or assembly issues at the drafting stage.
• Provide feedback to improve drawing standards, workflows, and product consistency. - Collaboration & Communication:
• Liaise with the production planner as the primary interface to the shop floor.
• Incorporate workshop feedback to ensure drawings clearly communicate fabrication intent.
• Support operations by prioritising and managing multiple jobs simultaneously. - Quality & IP:
• Maintain Regala’s intellectual property, with all drawings, models, and files remaining the property of Regala.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and traceability across all issued documentation.
