Data Analyst Sales and Marketing

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to empower the sales and marketing function with data-driven insights that drive customer acquisition, revenue growth, and market expansion, while optimising performance and resource allocation.

Data Analyst will apply strong commercial acumen and data analysis skills to support sales and marketing activities, internal systems, and research initiatives. This role also plays a key part in expanding IES’s technical capability and establishing our customer relationship management function and achieving a deeper understanding of potential and active customers in the energy markets.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • 2–5 years of experience in a data analyst or marketing/sales analytics role, ideally in B2B SaaS or the energy sector.
  • Proficient in SQL, Excel/Google Sheets, and data visualisation tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience working with CRM (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce), marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo, Pardot), and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Strong understanding of marketing and sales funnels, attribution models, and campaign metrics.
  • Experience applying AI and machine learning techniques—such as lead scoring models, customer churn prediction, or intelligent segmentation—to enhance targeting precision and automate decision-making across sales and marketing operations.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively work alone or in a team.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Enthusiasm to learn a new skills and techniques and explore new avenues (e.g. analytics methods, AI predictive modelling).
Job Responsibilities
  • Build and operationalise sales and marketing analytics capabilities from the ground up, including data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting processes.
  • Design and maintain reports, KPIs, and data visualisations to track performance across lead generation, funnel conversion, customer acquisition, and retention.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and leadership teams to identify key metrics, data needs, and business questions.
  • Integrate and analyse data from multiple systems (e.g., CRM, marketing automation, website analytics, product usage tools).
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality across systems and reports.
  • Uncover insights that inform go-to-market strategies, campaign performance, sales effectiveness, and customer segmentation.
  • Support testing, lead scoring models, customer journey analysis, and forecasting initiatives.
  • Investigate and implement AI strategies and technologies to optimise the Sales and Marketing function.
