Civil Designer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Civil Designer to join our growing team. Reporting to the CAD Manager, you will be responsible for producing detailed civil design documentation for residential and light commercial projects, including stormwater systems, remedial works, and infrastructure plans.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Experience: 3–5 years of solid experience in Civil Design.
  • Market Knowledge: Previous experience with Australian projects/standards is highly preferred (Residential, Commercial, or Infrastructure).
  • Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil Site Design software (Civil 3D or 12D Model).
  • Technical Design: Must be able to design alignments and independently produce long sections and cross sections.
  • 3D Capabilities: Proven experience in the mapping of 3D design services.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to critically review engineering plans against architectural plans to identify discrepancies or clashes.
  • Autonomy (The “Inception” Requirement): Proven ability to set up civil access plans and project layouts from the ground up, rather than just editing existing drafts.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English; must be comfortable reporting directly to an Australian Director and interpreting complex engineering mark-ups.
  • Additional Skills (Highly Regarded):
    ● Stormwater drainage design.
    ● Site and bulk earthworks grading.
    ● Road design and services infrastructure & coordination.
    ● Knowledge of Australian codes and council requirements.
Job Responsibilities
  • Project Inception: Setting up civil access plans and site layouts from the ground up.
  • Alignment Design: Developing precise alignments to produce detailed long and cross sections.
  • 3D Services Mapping: Managing 3D design services and coordination to ensure project accuracy.
  • Plan Integration: Critically reviewing engineering plans against architectural plans to resolve any design conflicts.
  • Detailed Documentation: Converting engineering mark-ups into construction-level plans and stormwater management designs.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensuring all designs meet Australian standards and local council requirements.
