Accountant & Translation Project Manager

Job Description

This is a unique dual-role position, ideal for a qualified accountant with strong organisational, communication, and client service skills. You will be responsible for managing our day-today accounting functions, while also overseeing translation projects from start to finish — ensuring smooth coordination between clients, translators, and internal teams.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA qualification highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably with exposure to international business transactions.
  • Experience in translation project management or related client service roles is highly advantageous (training provided if needed).
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (Xero preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities
  • Accounting Duties:
    • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
    • Prepare and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and petty cash records.
    • Process payroll and ensure compliance with applicable tax and statutory requirements.
    • Monitor cash flow, prepare monthly financial reports, and assist in budget planning.
    • Liaise with our Australian head office on all accounting matters, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
    • Maintain and update accounting records in Xero (experience is a must).
    • Ensure invoices are issued promptly and payments are tracked, following up on overdue accounts.
  • Translation Project Management Duties:
    • Respond promptly to new translation inquiries, gathering all necessary details from clients.
    • Prepare and send quotes, raise invoices for prepayment, and secure client approval before starting work.
    • Source suitable translators based on language, subject matter, and availability.
    • Coordinate with translators to obtain quotes, confirm availability, and manage deadlines.
    • Monitor project progress to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    • Deliver completed translations to clients and seek feedback, including encouraging Google Reviews.
    • Maintain accurate records of projects, client communications, and translator assignments.
  • General Customer Support:
    • Assist in answering incoming phone calls, managing overflow calls, and providing coverage during other team members’ absences.
    • Handle basic client inquiries courteously and efficiently, ensuring a professional and helpful first point of contact.
    • Provide administrative assistance to support interpreting and translation assignments, including coordinating schedules and confirming job details.
    • Support general office operations such as email correspondence, record management, and internal communication.
    • Collaborate closely with the Australian and Philippines-based teams to maintain smooth daily operations and ensure timely client service.
