Paraplanner

Job Description

The Paraplanner provides high-quality technical support to financial advisers by preparing compliant Statements of Advice (SoAs), Records of Advice (RoAs), and related documentation. The role involves conducting research, financial modelling, and compliance checks to ensure that advice strategies are accurate, effective, and aligned with client goals and regulatory obligations.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Prior experience as a paraplanner or in a technical financial planning role.
  • Strong knowledge of superannuation, investments, insurance, retirement planning, and tax considerations.
  • High attention to detail and ability to apply compliance requirements accurately.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with financial planning software.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
  • Advice Document Preparation:
    • Draft SoAs and RoAs in line with adviser instructions and client fact-find data.
    • Tailor advice strategies to reflect client objectives, needs, and risk profiles.
  • Technical Research & Modelling:
    • Conduct detailed superannuation, insurance, and investment product comparisons in line with the Approved Product List (APL).
    • Perform financial modelling and projections (retirement adequacy, cash flow, tax analysis, Centrelink entitlements).
    • Evaluate advice strategies (contribution strategies, rollovers, pension commencements, insurance structuring).
    • Stay up to date with legislation and compliance changes affecting advice.
  • Data Collection & Analysis:
    • Analyse fact-find information and input into financial planning software (Astute Wheel, Dash MDA).
    • Liaise with product providers to obtain valuations, policy details, and statements.
    • Verify data accuracy before preparing advice documents.
  • Compliance & Audit Readiness:
    • Apply licensee and ASIC compliance checklists to all advice documents.
    • Ensure fee disclosures, FSGs, and mandatory risk warnings are included.
    • Maintain complete audit-ready records of advice creation.
    • This function is fully supported by the Practice Manager.
  • Adviser & Team Support:
    • Work closely with advisers to translate client strategies into documented advice.
    • Provide technical research and scenario testing to support strategy development.
    • Collaborate with CSOs to ensure client files are complete and accurate.
    • Contribute to workflow efficiency by suggesting process improvements.
