We are seeking a Finance & Accounts Officer to support the effective day-to-day management of AAC’s finances by maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, and assisting in the preparation of regular financial reports. This role ensures statutory compliance, timeliness, and accuracy in all transactional finance activities while supporting the Board and CFO with reliable data for strategic financial planning.

Job Qualifications/Requirements
  • Degree in bookkeeping and/or finance.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a bookkeeping and accounts role.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with MYOB (preferred), but open to candidates with experience in similar accounting and bookkeeping software.
  • Strong financial reporting and tax experience.
  • Understanding of relevant Australian laws related to this role (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong understanding of the NDIS requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident dealing with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve complex issues.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to articulate, educate and mentor colleagues with less financial acumen.
  • Experience using budgeting, forecasting, and reporting tools.
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel, Google Docs, and other accounting packages.
Job Responsibilities
  • Core Finance & Bookkeeping:
    • Process and reconcile all income and expenditure in line with AAC processes.
    • Purchasing and accounts payable, including verification of all invoices and approvals.
    • Maintain and reconcile all bank accounts weekly.
    • Manage monthly credit card entries from bank feeds.
    • Process and reconcile monthly bank statements.
    • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Prepare and upload creditor and debtor information for accounts payable and receivable.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Lead the preparation, lodgement, and payment of all tax obligations (PAYG, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax).
    • Ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting meets internal, contractual, and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain accurate and complete financial records for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Support external audits by preparing requested records and reports.
  • Funding & Claims Support:
    • Ensure claims and reporting are accurate, timely, and fully compliant with the relevant funding requirements.
    • Assist with SIL and NDIS claims, ensuring accurate reconciliation of service delivery hours and funding.
    • Liaise with the SIL Claims Officer to confirm client funding and staffing ratio alignment.
    • Provide back up support for all claims activities.
  • Payroll Support (Backup):
    • Provide backup support for payroll processing when required.
    • Ensure timesheet data and payroll reconciliations are accurate and timely.
  • Administration & Systems:
    • Keep financial systems (e.g., MYOB, Excel, Employment Hero, Visual Care) up to date and accurate.
    • Support process improvements to streamline reconciliations and reporting.
    • Work collaboratively across teams to ensure financial data integrity.
  • Governance and Risk:
    • Identify and escalate emerging financial risks and implement mitigations in consultation with the Board.
    • Ensure compliance with AAC’s financial policies, governance frameworks, and audit requirements.
    • Lead investigations and resolution of adverse financial events and ensure appropriate follow-up for team-reported issues.
