The initiative was designed to enhance the BFP’s digital infrastructure, enabling the bureau to better serve the Dumaguete City community in its day-to-day operations and emergency responses. ProNetivity led the network design, implementation, and deployment, FilProducts provided the ongoing internet service and WrkPod and MetaUplink jointly provided the network equipment.

At the turnover ceremony, SFO3 Earl Manny Uy, Chief of the Fire Safety Enforcement Section at BFP Dumaguete City, shared how the improved connection is already making a difference. According to him, “We are very much thankful for this because it’s very, very important to our work. With the BFP now online, it helps a lot in serving the Dumaguetenos.” He added that the new internet service is “very much faster,” noting that reliable connectivity greatly supports their daily tasks and significantly aids their operations and interaction with the public.

Technical Implementation

JD Bungart, President and Technical Director of ProNetivity, described the technical enhancements, explaining, “It’s fast, reliable, and it works! What we did for BFP was install full wifi coverage for the entire fire station and refresh the network with new equipment to make sure it runs more lively.”

He also emphasized improvements beyond speed, noting, “Feedback was pretty positive… we managed to reduce overall latency by about 60%,” and that the setup helps ensure bandwidth is “equally distributed across all stations on the network,” allowing staff to use multiple resources without slowdown.

Engr. Florido Aplaon, Assistant Head of the Engineering Department at FilProducts, shared how quick the project turnaround was, saying, “We were just informed last Tuesday afternoon that it must be completed before Friday, and we did it… it was generally good and workable.”

Community Impact

The upgraded internet connectivity is expected to support the BFP’s daily operations and enhance communication within the bureau. The project represents one of several community initiatives supported by local businesses in Dumaguete City, consistent with ongoing efforts to strengthen public services through private sector collaboration.

The partnership was inspired by a shared goal of supporting the local community. “As we work locally, we look for opportunities to support the community, public institutions and NGO that help the broader community,” said Meriane Salik, Executive Manager of WrkPod. “We were happy to team up with FilProducts, ProNetivity, and MetaUplink to support the Bureau of Fire Protection with more dependable internet service, aligning with our ongoing commitment to community support across the Negros Island Region.”

WrkPod’s participation in the initiative reflects the company’s broader commitment to community support in Dumaguete, similar to its involvement with local schools and other community programs in the area.

This initiative showcases how collaborative efforts between local technology providers and public institutions can create meaningful impact, improving internal workflows and supporting responsive public service delivery in the community.
